Phil Clay - Chair/Humanities/MFL/Child Protection

I have lived in the valley for almost forty years. I am married, have two daughters and three grandchildren. I retired in 2009 from teaching at Hopwood Hall College. This is my second term as a governor at Balladen - an indication, I hope, of my affection for the school. Being retired I have no business interests but am very involved in the Epilepsy Action Support Group in Rawtenstall. For relaxation I read, listen to music and watch, probably too much, television.

June Forshaw - Curriculum/School Council/Grievance & Appeals

I have been a governor at Balladen School for 25 years and was a local councillor for the area for 20 years. Now I run an elderly persons Luncheon Club and am Chairperson of the welfare committee. I enjoy fundraising for these activities and when I can fit it in I like to travel and go the theatre. There is never a dull moment when your retire!

Andrea Horrocks - Curriculum/Foundation Stage/RE

I have served on the Governing Body at Balladen CP School as a parent governor and as a co-opted governor.  I have been involved with Balladen school in some capacity for over 27 years. It is a school full of wonderful individuals which just gets under your skin and is a wonderful place to be a part of.
I began my career at Balladen CP, spending a very happy 13 year in the school.  While working for Rochdale and Manchester I developed a background in Education and Children's Services at both front line and strategic levels.  The knowledge, understanding and skills I have gained over the years informs my role as a governor.

Steven Pilling - Finance/Buildings/Health & Safety

I am a family man with three children. I enjoy most sports, astronomy, astrophotography and animals. I currently don’t work but am a full time carer for my wife and am studying accounting at college.

Liz White - SEN

I am a parent governor and was appointed to the governing body in September 2015. I am originally from the south of England but have now lived in Rossendale for thirteen years. I have a degree in History but have spent most of my career working with children and their families. I am very passionate about the early years and primary years of a child’s education and how a good start in their education can open up many different opportunities for them. I am currently working in the social care sector and have two children attending Balladen School.
